Beacon Hill Resources Completes Locomotives And Rail Wagons For Coking Coal Transportation

16th Jan 2014 11:58

LONDON (Alliance News) - Beacon Hill Resources PLC Thursday said it has completed the purpose built locomotives and rail wagons for coking coal transportation from the Minas Moatize Mine in Tete, Mozambique.

The steel and coal production company, operating in the Tete province of Mozambique, said the completion means that it can now utilise its 500,000 tonnes per year allocation on the Sena rail line between Tete and the port of Beira.

The company said five diesel locomotives, purpose built by RRLGrindrod South Africa and 90 purpose built open top rail wagons, completed by Transnet Engineering South Africa, are expected to arrive in Beira during the first quarter 2014.

Beacon Hill said it plans to operate two sets of trains on the Sena line, each consisting of two 42 rail wagon locomotives, which can be loaded with up to 63 tonnes of coal.

Beacon Hill Resources shares were down 0.5% to 0.920 pence Thursday.
