BBA Aviation Appoints Nigel Rudd As Its Next Non-Executive Chairman

16th Oct 2013 07:54

LONDON (Alliance News) - BBA Aviation PLC Wednesday said it had secured city heavyweight Nigel Rudd as its next non-executive chairman, replacing Michael Harper who will retire at the company's next annual general meeting in May 2014.

Rudd is currently also non-executive chairman of the Heathrow Airport operating company, engineer Invensys PLC and investment company The Business Growth Fund. He has also been on the board of Barclays PLC in the past and was Chairman of Alliance Boots. He founded and chaired the UK's largest car retailer, Pendragon PLC, and also founded industrial conglomerate Williams PLC, which was subsequently demerged into Chubb and Kidde.

Rudd will join BBA as a non-executive director and deputy chairman December 1, and will then succeed Harper in May.

Harper joined the board of the aviation services business in 2005 and became chairman in 2007 having overseen its demerger in 2006 as interim chief executive.

BBA Aviation shares were up 0.1% at 316.9 pence early Wednesday.
