Base Resources Gets Further Exploration Licence Around Kwale

21st Jun 2016 07:59

LONDON (Alliance News) - Base Resources Ltd on Tuesday said it has been granted an exploration licence over more land surrounding its Kwale mineral sands operations in Kenya.

Base said it expects to start a drilling programme at the new land area in the third quarter of 2016, following a successful survey programme conducted in 2015 covering the south coast region of Kenya and the Tanzania border.

"With Kwale at steady state production and having mined 22.2 million tonnes since commissioning in October 2013, we are excited by the prospectivity of the new tenement area and the potential to further extend the mine life of the Kwale operations," said Base Managing Director Tim Carstens.

Base shares were untraded on Tuesday morning, having last traded at 6.45 pence.
