Base Resources Final Products Production Up 10% In Third Quarter

8th Oct 2014 08:38

LONDON (Alliance News) - Base Resources Ltd said Wednesday that it had seen a 10% increase in production of final products in the quarter to end-September compared with the previous quarter, as it continued to work on its Kwale mineral sands operations in Kenya.

The company said that it has focused on maintaining availability, throughput and recovery optimisation on its wet concentrator plant and mineral separation plan.

Production of heavy mineral concentrate at Kwale increased 22% to 172,885 tonnes, from 172,885 tonnes, and ore mined increased 25% to 2.2 metric tonnes, from 1.8 metric tonnes in the previous quarter.

Ilmenite production continued at or above design capacity, zircon production has been consistent with the company's ramp-up to design capacity, and rutle production ramp-up continued, BASE Resources said.

Ilmenite production increased to 100,533 tonnes, from 91,620 tonnes the previous quarter, rutile rose to 16,612 tonnes from 15,221 tonnes, and zircon rose to 5,210 tonnes from 4,130 tonnes.

Over 130,000 tonnes of ilmenite, rutile and zircon were shipped during the quarter.

During the quarter, the company's restructuring of its Kwale Project debt facility was approved by its lenders, which realigned the debt facility repayment schedule as a result of delayed sales from Kwale.

Shares in Base Resources are untraded Wednesday. It last closed traded at 15.50 pence.
