LONDON (Alliance News) - Baronsmead Venture Trust PLC and Baronsmead Second Venture Trust PLC on Thursday both reported a decline in net asset value per share due to increased volatility in quoted markets.
Baronsmead VT's NAV per share at the end of March stood at 80.0 pence, down 8.0% from 87.0p reported at the beginning of October 2018, while Baronsmead Second VT's NAV fell by 8.3% to 80.3p from 87.6p.
Baronsmead VT and Baronsmead Second VT both saw "steady positive" progress from their unquoted investments. However, the companies' quoted portfolios suffered as a result of falling markets.
At the end of March, Baronsmead VT's investment portfolio was valued at GBP108 million and comprised investments in 81 unquoted and AIM-traded companies. Meanwhile, Baronsmead Second VT's investment portfolio was valued at GBP130 million and comprised investments in 79 unquoted and AIM-traded companies.
Both venture trusts declared a final dividend of 4.5p per share.
Baronsmead VT's shares were untraded on Thursday, last closing at 77.00p each, while Baronsmead Second VT's shares were down 1.3% at 77.50p each.
