(Alliance News) - Barclays PLC has appointed two new non-executive directors, it said on Thursday, including Allianz SE's chief economic advisor and the investment chief at Soros Fund Management.
Dawn Fitzpatrick, who oversees around USD25 billion of assets at Soros, will join the Barclays board immediately. Before that, she spent 25 years at UBS Group AG, including as head of investments at UBS Asset Management.
The other appointment is Mohamed El-Erian, who will join at the start of 2020. He is currently chief economic advisor at Germany's Allianz, and has previously served as deputy director of the International Monetary Fund and chaired former US president Barack Obama's global development council.
"These appointments reflect Barclays' commitment to the strengthening of its board through the addition of further high quality and highly respected individuals possessing a wide and deep knowledge of the group's markets and businesses," said Barclays.
Shares in the FTSE 100 lender were 0.7% higher on Thursday afternoon in London at 149.13 pence each.
