Bankers Investment Trust Outperforms Benchmark In Last Quarter

28th Aug 2014 14:22

LONDON (Alliance News) - Bankers Investment Trust PLC Thursday said its net asset value total return rose by 2% over the quarter to July 31, outperforming its benchmark which declined over the period.

The investment company said its NAV total return per share rose by 2% over the quarter, while its benchmark, the FTSE All-Share Index, fell by 0.2%.

Its share price at July 31 had risen 0.7% on the previous quarter.

"The on-going conflict in the Ukraine combined with the recent failure of a Portuguese bank has unsettled European markets. Our stock selection in Europe has also suffered from these falls but we remain generally exposed to companies with international sales rather than predominantly domestic exposure," the company said.

The company said Japan and Asia were the two strongest regions for equity returns over the period.

Shares in the trust were trading 0.1% lower at 571.00 pence Thursday afternoon.
