LONDON (Alliance News) - Mobile payments company Bango PLC on Wednesdy said its has partnered with Telkom South Africa to launch carrier billing in Google Play, a first for the African market.
Under the deal, Telkom SA will use Bango's payments platform to provide the service to Android customers. The Google Android platform currently represents 89% of Africa's smartphone market.
No financial details on the deal were disclosed.
"Bango has long understood that Africa is a key growth market for our frictionless payment technology. Launching the best payment experience, for the world's most popular app store and in Africa's largest market, is a proud milestone for Bango and our partner Telkom SA," said Bango Chief Executive Ray Anderson.
Bango shares were up 6.7% to 102.999 pence in early trade, one of the best performers in the AIM All-Share.
