Bango Partners With UAE's Etisalat For Direct Mobile Payments

5th Jun 2014 09:24

LONDON (Alliance News) - Mobile payments company Bango PLC Thursday said it has entered into a strategic partnership with telecommunications provider Etisalat Group to enable billing on a mobile phone via a one-click payment across Etisalat's customer base in Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

The agreement between Cambridge-based Bango and Abu Dhabi-based Etisalat will accelerate the availability of charge-to-bill payment, Bango said, connecting tens of millions of Etisalat subscribers to Direct Operator Billing, while providing a massive boost to digital content sales across the region.

Direct operator billing allows a mobile phone operator to seamlessly charge users for app and content services directly onto their phone bill, creating a 'one-click? purchase process. Purchases are posted onto a user's mobile billing account.

Bango said the partnership has already seen direct operator billing launched for users of BlackBerry World in 2013, while the new agreement will deliver further app store integrations such as Google Play, where users can now pay for their music, books, movies, games and apps with one-click functionality. It said it will announce further direct operator billing app store integrations in the coming months.

Etisalat is the first operator to offer direct operator billing for Google Play users in the Middle East.

Bango shares were up 4.5% at 116.00 pence Thursday morning.
