LONDON (Alliance News) - Defence contractor BAE Systems PLC said Thursday last week it has secured a USD50 million contract from the US Army for the continued production of MK90 propellant grains.
The grain is the propulsion component used in the Hydra 70 portfolio of rockets used by the US military in overseas operations.
"The Hydra 70 missile is the work horse of the unguided missile category," said Reed McPeak, vice president and general manager of Ordnance Systems at BAE Systems. "It is the most commonly used helicopter-launched weapon system in the world, and we are pleased to fuel this multi-service, multi-national system."
Shares in BAE were down 2.2% to 435.15 pence on Monday morning.
