LONDON (Alliance News) - Defence company BAE Systems PLC said Friday the UK government has signed a preliminary agreement with Saudi Arabia to finalise the sale of 48 Typhoon fighter jets.
No specific details, including contract value, were disclosed by BAE. The Typhoon jets are manufactured by a consortium consisting of Italian aeronautics company Leonardo, Airbus and BAE.
"We are committed to supporting the Kingdom [of Saudi Arabia] as it modernises the Saudi Armed Forces and develops key industrial capabilities critical to the delivery of Vision 2030," the company said in a short statement.
Shares in BAE were up 2.3% at 602.80 pence in afternoon trade.
