LONDON (Alliance News) - Avon Rubber PLC Friday said it has received a USD33.0 million order from the US Department of Defense for 135,000 M50 mask systems, giving the company order coverage in line with expectations for the remainder of its financial year and "excellent" visibility of M50 sales well into the next.
Avon Rubber said the order came under the additional requirements option of its sole source US Joint Services General Purpose Mask program contract. Its protection division makes gas masks and respiratory systems that are used by the military, law enforcement, firefighters and the industrial sector.
"This USD33.0 million order demonstrates the Department of Defense's continued commitment to Avon's market leading high technology M50 mask to meet their complex operational requirements," Chief Executive Peter Slabbert said in a statement.
Avon Rubber shares were Friday quoted at 635.00 pence, up 1.1%, shortly after the open.
