Avation Repossesses Two Airbus A321 Aircraft From Thomas Cook

4th Oct 2019 09:03

(Alliance News) - Avation PLC on Friday said its two Airbus A321 aircraft previously leased to Thomas Cook Airlines Ltd have been repossessed.

The repossessed aircraft have been "ferried from Manchester and Gatwick to an aircraft maintenance and repair organisation outside of the UK".

Routine maintenance checks will be conducted on both aircraft before they are "marketed and delivered to another airline in due course".

Jeff Chatfield, executive chair of aircraft leasing firm Avation, said: "Avation is pleased with the success of our technical team in quickly repossessing and repositioning the two aircraft previously operated by Thomas Cook. These two Airbus A321 aircraft are relatively new at three-and-a-half years old and in our view are in superb condition. They will be marketed globally in a state fresh from a 2C airframe check and we anticipate them being in high demand amongst airlines."

Thomas Cook, a holiday operator, collapsed in September, entering liquidation due to competition and debt.

Shares in Avation were untraded on Friday, last closing at 285.00 pence in London.
