Avation Delivers Airbus A321 To Vietjet; Extends Lease With Air France

31st May 2016 09:21

LONDON (Alliance News) - Aircraft leasing company Avation PLC on Tuesday said it has purchased and delivered a new Airbus A321-200 aircraft to Vietnamese airline Vietjet, while extending a current lease with Air France.

Avation said it has secured an asset-backed senior debt facility with an existing bank lender to support the purchase of the A321-200 aircraft, which seats 230 passengers.

It will be employed by Vietjet on its expanding route network of domestic and international destinations from multiple bases in Vietnam.

"Avation was delighted that Vietjet selected Avation to provide it with a series of aircraft after a rigorous selection process. We are now delighted to be delivering the first in a series of new Airbus A321s to Vietjet. This aircraft brings Avation's current fleet of owned aircraft to 39," Chairman Jeff Chatfield said in a statement.

In a separate statement, Avation said it has extended its lease of an Airbus A320 to Air France. The aircraft was leased in September. It didn't say for how long the lease has been extended.

"We are pleased with the extension of a lease with Air France on an Airbus A320, Avation strives for long-term leases on aircraft so as to mitigate risks involving short term market volatility," Chatfield said.

Shares in Avation were trading up 1.8% at 144.00 pence on Tuesday morning.
