(Alliance News) - Digital security and privacy products company Avast PLC on Wednesday said it has appointed Shane McNamee as chief privacy officer.
McNamee, who will oversee the company's privacy strategy and drive the privacy-by-design strategy, has over seven years of experience focusing on data protection and digital rights in a number of high profile organisations, and most recently the Irish Department of Finance and the Data Protection Commission of Ireland.
Kelby Barton, general counsel at Avast, said: "Given the increasing complexity of the role of data in the technology industry, Shane is an important addition to our team as we pursue a resilient, transparent approach to data protection for our digital customers. We are expanding our range of privacy products and are committed to ensuring ethical data standards across our business."
Shares in Avast were up 1.5% at 538.00 pence each in London on Wednesday morning.
