Avanti Communications Wins Middle East Satellite Contract

3rd Apr 2014 09:35

LONDON (Alliance News) - Avanti Communications PLC said Thursday it has been selected by Turkish telecom operator ESER Telekom to deliver its satellite broadband coverage in the Middle East region.

ESER said it will use leading Ka-band technology to meet the growing demand for broadband in the Middle East region, as forecasts predict internet usage to rise significantly from 90 million to 413 million users by 2015.

Avanti's HYLAS 2 beams will be used to strengthen broadband presence in the region.

ESER will deliver broadband packages to consumer and enterprise customers currently out of range of terrestrial services in the region, it said. Its customers include mobile operators, government agencies and corporate market.

"We are proud to support ESER in providing high-quality satellite services to the Middle East. The flexibility of our service complements ESER's offering and brings a new approach to the region. We look forward to working together," David Williams, Chief Executive at Avanti Communications said.

Shares in Avanti were trading 3.73% lower at 315.75 pence per share Thursday morning.
