LONDON (Alliance News) - Aureus Mining Inc shares rose on Thursday after it managed to produce 4,500 ounces over a two-week period from the New Liberty gold mine in Liberia, which has subsequently been shipped to for smelting and refining at the MKS PAMP refinery in Switzerland.
Aureus shares were up 15% to 7.30 pence per share on Thursday morning.
The 14-day period ended Tuesday was the first period of production since commercial operations were launched at the beginning of March. Taking into account the gold produced before commercial production commenced, Aureus has yielded 19,200 ounces of gold from the mine since the start of 2016.
The process plant has continued to operate at a stable run-rate in line with original design specifications, and recovery levels in excess of 90% continue to be achieved, the company said.
"Now that the company has declared commercial production and steady state plant operations have been achieved, future production guidance will be communicated on a quarterly basis," said Aureus.
