Aura Energy Receives "Purported" General Meeting Requisition

3rd Feb 2020 11:46

(Alliance News) - Aura Energy Ltd on Monday said it had been sent a "purported" requisition for a general meeting and is currently "seeking legal advice".

Shares in Aura were down 9.1% at 0.25 pence in London in late morning trading.

Aura, an Australian minerals firm, said it "received a purported section 249D requisition for a general meeting of shareholders".

Under Australian law, shareholders with at least a 5% stake can request a general meeting under section 249D. The request must state any resolution intended to be proposed and be signed by those making the request, although Aura did not provide this information if known.

"The company is seeking legal advice in relation to the purported s b249D requisition and will inform shareholders of the outcome of the legal advice," Aura said.

On Tuesday last week, Aura asked shareholders not to reject key resolutions at its annual general meeting for fear that the firm would then be in default of its loan obligations.

The Australian minerals firm said 14 of its shareholders had lodged "a significant negative vote" against all resolutions on the ballot at its AGM.

However, all AGM resolutions were passed on Friday.
