Aukett Swanke Says Planning Permission Granted For Belmont Works

22nd Mar 2016 09:37

LONDON (Alliance News) - Aukett Swanke Group PLC said Tuesday planning permission has been granted for the Belmont Works Birmingham, which it designed for developer Goodman Group.

The architecture and interior design firm said the building is a key element in the wider regeneration plans for the Eastside Locks area of Birmingham. Belmont Works is a Victorian factory building which will be converted into office space for small-to-medium sized companies and graduate enterprises associated with the University of Birmingham.

Aukett Swanke said, after having received planning permission, work will now commence on the site in the Spring of 2016 and should complete in Autumn 2017.

"The Eastside Locks masterplan will involve regeneration within a particular opportunity zone but also witness a wider shift in the centre of gravity for Birmingham as a whole," said Luke Schuberth, UK managing director at Aukett Swanke.

"The individual projects on the site, such as Belmont Works, demonstrate how the working landscape of the whole city is changing in the near future, and we're delighted to be a part of it," Schuberth added.

Shares in Aukett Swanke were untraded on Tuesday, having last traded at 6.40 pence.
