(Alliance News) - Augean PLC on Friday said it has acquired an option to buy land next to is existing landfill site near Peterborough, extending the life of the site through to "the mid-2040s".
The waste management firm now has the option to purchase around 90 acres of land adjacent to its East Northants Resource Management Facility landfill site close to Peterborough. The site currently generates in excess of GBP15 million of revenue and more than GBP8 million in profit per annum.
Augean said the purchase option is it "preferred choice" after it has investigated "a number of alternative solutions" and aligns with a need in the south of England for hazardous landfill and soil treatment.
"With appropriate planning and permitting consent", Augean believes the extension would prolong its site life "until the mid-2040s".
Shares in Augean were up 0.4% at 150.60 pence in London on Friday morning.
