LONDON (Alliance News) - Atlantis Resources Ltd Wednesday said it has now reached agreements on the final pricing and terms with a range of contractors for the MeyGen project in Scotland.
The tidal power company said deals have been made with ABB Ltd for civil works and onshore electrical equipment supply, and with Andritz Hydro Hammerfest for turbine supply.
The company said Robert Bird Group, Global Energy Group and JGC Engineering & Technical Services Ltd have agreed terms for the design and supply of the turbine foundation, while James Fisher Marine Services Ltd has agreed terms for the offshore construction works, including installation of the subsea cables, foundations and turbines
Finally, Atlantis Resources said deals have been made with JDR Cable Systems Ltd for the subsea cable supply and with O'Connor Utilities Ltd for the directional drilling of cable bores from the onshore site to the seabed.
The MeyGen project is located in the Pentland Firth in Scotland and is the largest planned free-stream tidal energy project in the world, according to owner Atlantis. The first power from the project is expected in 2016, and it is estimated that 42,000 Scottish homes will be powered by the energy produced each year.
Atlantis Resources shares were up 1.9% to 53.50 pence on Wednesday.
