Aterian hails copper discoveries at Tata project in Morocco

2nd Dec 2024 11:32

(Alliance News) - Aterian PLC on Monday celebrated additional copper discoveries at its Tata sedimentary-hosted copper project in Morocco.

The Africa-focused mining company with projects in Botswana, Morocco and Rwanda said it returned up to 1.50% copper from an 8-metre thick carbonate sequence and up to 1.02% copper from an 8.5-metre thick carbonate sequence.

Further, it returned up to 0.94% copper from younger Lower Cambrian sediments.

Chair Charles Bray said: "We are delighted to report more positive results from the Tata project. The field team has completed approximately 20-line kilometre of traverse mapping and rock sampling, extending the cumulative strike length of mineralised target horizons to an impressive 32 km. Additional discoveries include copper mineralisation over apparent thicknesses of up to 8.5 m and 6 m in the south and north of the project, respectively."

In early October, Aterian said it identified new copper zones at the Jebilest Est copper project, also in Morocco.

The find included a 9.25% copper sample returned from a previously untested area.

Chair Bray said: "We are excited to announce further encouraging copper results obtained from recent fieldwork at Jebilet Est, including identifying quartz-carbonate vein targets below a thin soil cover. The initial indications suggest a potentially broad, up to 120 metres wide, package of quartz carbonate veins and alteration zones within Jebilet Est."

Aterian shares were 0.5% higher at 51.25 pence each on Monday morning in London.
