AstraZeneca Opens New USD224 Million Manufacturing Facility In Russia

20th Oct 2015 11:00

LONDON (Alliance News) - AstraZeneca PLC said Tuesday it has opened a new manufacturing and packaging facility in Kaluga, Russia, for the supply of innovative medicines in the region.

The company has invested USD224 million in the development of the new manufacturing facility, located southwest of Moscow. Commercial production at the factory will begin early next year, and the site will become fully operations in 2017, and produce around 40 million packs and 850 million tablets of around 30 medicines each year, it said.

"Our new dedicated production facility will support our efforts to bring innovative medicines from our exciting pipeline to patients in Russia. This opening builds on our investments in clinical research and scientific collaborations in this important country and serves to reinforce our long-term commitment to Russia," said Astra Chief Executive Officer Pascal Soriot in a statement.
