AstraZeneca Hires Former Nissan CFO As Non-Executive Director

6th Sep 2018 09:11

LONDON (Alliance News) - FTSE 100-listed pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca PLC said Thursday it has hired former Nissan Motor Co Chief Financial Officer Joseph Peter as a non-executive director.

Peter will begin his role October 1 and will become a member of the audit committee.

Peter was CFO of Nissan for nine years until his recently announced retirement in May from the company.

He was responsible for Nissan's global finance activity including control, accounting, treasury, investor relations, tax and M&A support.

Starting in 2019, current director Graham Chipchase will become senior independent non-executive director and from March onwards Phillip Broadley will chair the company's audit committee.

Chairman Leif Johansson said: "We are very pleased to welcome Joe Peter to AstraZeneca's board. His long and successful executive career in the automotive industry, his finance expertise and extensive global experience, particularly in Japan and Asia more broadly, will enable him to make a significant contribution to AstraZeneca's future success."

Shares in AstraZeneca were down 0.5% Thursday at 5,674.00 pence each.
