(Alliance News) - AstraZeneca PLC on Monday said it appointed Michel Demare as a non-executive director and a member of the audit committee, with effect from September 1.
The drugmaker said Demare currently serves as a non-executive director of FTSE100-listed telecommunications firm Vodafone Group PLC and is a member of the supervisory board of Louis Dreyfus Co Holdings BV.
Demare was vice-chair of Swiss investment bank UBS Group AG from 2010 to 2019 and chair of agrochemicals and seeds firm Syngenta AG and the Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture from 2013 to 2017.
"We are delighted to appoint Michel Demare as a director," said Chair Leif Johansson. "He has a great deal of industrial, financial and board-level experience across a range of sectors including science and technology, that will enable him to contribute well to the work of our board and audit committee."
AstraZeneca shares were trading 0.5% higher early on Monday at 7,292.00 pence each in London.
