Ascential Says Former Just Eat CFO Harrison Picked For New COO Role

29th Sep 2020 09:58

(Alliance News) - Ascential PLC on Tuesday named Non-Executive Director Paul Harrison as its new chief operating officer, a new position at the company.

Harrison takes on the role from January 11 and will continue as a non-executive at the events firm until then, Ascential noted.

"As Ascential continues to evolve its agile and digitally-focused business model to drive long-term growth, the appointment of a chief operating officer will add further depth and breadth to the senior management team. In his new role, Paul will take responsibility for the company's people strategies, mergers & acquisitions and other group functions including marketing, content and technology, reporting directly to Duncan Painter, Ascential's chief executive officer," the company said.

Harrison served as chief financial officer of food delivery firm Just Eat PLC between 2016 and 2020, leaving upon the completion of its merger with Takeaway.com NV to create Just Eat Takeaway.com NV.

Harrison has also served as CFO at blue-chip accounting software firm Sage Group PLC and AIM-listed data-management company WANdisco PLC.

"Paul has offered tremendous support and guidance to the Ascential board in a non-executive capacity since our IPO in 2016 and is a proven business leader," Ascential Chair Scott Forbes said.

Ascential shares were 2.3% lower at 290.80 pence each in London on Tuesday morning.
