LONDON (Alliance News) - Africa-focused Asa Resource Group PLC said Wednesday it has made two new appointments as chief operating and technical officers, and it will consolidate some its corporate functions in Zimbabwe.
Asa Resources said that Toi Muganyi, previously managing director at its gold mining subsidiary Freda Rebecca, will become its chief operating officer effective immediately.
Batirai Manhando, previously managing director at ASA's subsidiary Bindura Nickel Corp, will become chief technical officer, also effective immediately.
Asa also said that it will consolidate its offices in Johannesburg and Harare into an integrated team at the newly-formed Asa complex in the village of Bindura in Zimbabwe.
"The rationale for many of these developments is to build on the excellent progress we have made in reducing corporate overheads. By bringing our teams closer together, communications become more efficient and will further eliminate duplication between corporate and operational functions," said David Murangari, non-executive chairman of Asa Resource.
Shares in Asa Resource were up 0.9% at 2.32 pence Wednesday.
