LONDON (Alliance News) - Applied Graphene Materials PLC said Tuesday it poached Nanoco Group PLC Chief Financial Officer David Blain to head its own finance department later in October.
Blain - a chartered accountant - will join the graphene maker from the semiconductor firm from October 22. After being appointed finance boss at Nanoco in 2015, he helped complete a GBP8.0 million fundraise for the company in 2017.
Prior to this, he worked as finance head at Inspired Capital PLC - formerly Renovo Group PLC - and played a "significant" role in its transformation to a small business lending firm from a biotechnology company through acquisition.
"We are delighted to welcome David to Applied Graphene Materials," Applied Graphene Chief Executive Officer Adrian Potts said. "His extensive commercial and operational experience coupled with his background in an early stage nanotechnology business will be a huge asset to the company as it moves into the next phase of development."
"Additionally," Potts added, "having spent a considerable amount of time working in manufacturing and listed companies, setting strategy and growing businesses and teams we believe this will be of significant benefit as we look to advance the company."
Shares in Applied Graphene were 4.0% lower at 42.71 pence on Tuesday.
