LONDON (Alliance News) - Anglo American Ltd.'s subsidiary Anglo American Platinum Ltd Monday said that a sit-in protest at its Dishaba mine in South Africa ended overnight.
The worlds largest platinum producer said that workers were brought safely to the surface and will resume normal shifts from Monday evening.
The employees were demanding that the suspension of an Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union shop steward be lifted. The AMCU shop steward was suspended pending an enquiry for breach of safety regulations, the company said.
The company said no production has been lost during the strike because safety checks, rather than normal shift work, had been planned over the weekend.
Anglo American shares were down 1.4% to 1,471.00 pence, putting it in the top three FTSE100 losers Monday.
