Anglo American Non-Executive Rutherford Retires, Maxson Replaces

10th Dec 2020 09:13

(Alliance News) - Anglo American PLC on Thursday said Hilary Maxson will join the board as a non-executive director, with effect from June 1 next year.

In addition, the London-based miner said Jim Rutherford will retire as a non-executive director with effect from the end of 2020.

"Maxson brings a combination of experience that aligns well with our business, spanning finance, the capital markets, energy and technology, gained across her executive career in the US, Europe, Africa and Asia," said Chair Stuart Chambers.

"We are extremely grateful for the breadth of Jim Rutherford's contribution over the last seven years. His career-long understanding of the capital markets and perspectives on the mining industry, combined with his deep commitment to sustainability and his drive to see mining recognised for the good that it does, have added valuable insights to Anglo American's Board discussions," added Chambers.

Rutherford has served as an independent non-executive director since November 2013, also serving on the board's Audit, Remuneration and Sustainability committees.

Maxson will become a member of the Audit Committee.

Anglo American shares were trading 0.3% lower in London on Thursday at 2,488.50 pence each, while in Johannesburg, the stock was down 1.7% at ZAR496.49 a share. Anglo American shares are up 15% and 22%, respectively, so far in 2020.
