LONDON (Alliance News) - Angle PLC Monday said it has been granted a second US patent for its Parsortix system, which captures rare cells in blood for medical analysis.
In a statement, the specialist medical technology company said the second patent strengthens the claims regarding the core Parsortix technology protected by the first patent. The company has made corresponding patent applications in other countries it considers to be substantial markets and are in process.
According to Angle, the second patent protects aspects of design, manufacture and deployment of the Parsortix cell-separation equipment.
"The grant of our second US patent gives Angle broader protection over the Parsortix separation technology. We are pursuing a strategy to strengthen the breadth and duration of our patent coverage to maximise the commercial returns that can be achieved from our Parsortix technology," Chief Executive Andrew Newland said in a statement.
Angle shares were Monday quoted up 1.6% at 76.70 pence.
