LONDON (Alliance News) - Amerisur Resources PLC on Wednesday said it has received a "very positive" result from testing on the T sand interval on its Pintadillo-1 well in Colombia.
The T sand is flowing at 590 barrels of oil a day with "strong" wellhead pressure. The water cut is below 1%, and this is falling, Amerisur added.
It perforated a 9 feet interval, within the overall 15 feet of net pay found by the company.
Amerisur is to remap the T sand and the U sand to assess the size of the discovery, with drilling options on Pintadillo to be assessed after.
Chief Executive John Wardle commented: "This is an exciting and very positive result from Pintadillo-1, ahead of what we had expected. Indeed, at current choked production levels, the well will pay back in under a year."
"The strong natural flow from the well, together with a different oil-water contact indicates a separate structure compared to the T-sand production in the southern part of the block, which further diversifies our production base," he added.
On Tuesday last week, Amerisur said its main N sand objective had found no oil production potential. The company had been targeting the N, M2, U, and T sands on the Pintadillo-1 well.
