LONDON (Alliance News) - South America-focused oil & gas producer Amerisur Resources PLC said it will base its decisions for the Platanillo-22 well on ongoing tests.
Amerisur has been working over its Platanillo-22 well in Colombia due to declining production. The company is now running electrical logs to assess, among other things, the integrity of cement in the well and its reservoir oil saturation.
"The forward programme to return the well to production will be decided post analysis of these logs. Should the forward programme involve an isolation and re-perforation of the reservoir interval as per management expectations, the operation is expected to take approximately ten days," the company said in a statement.
After heavy rains, civil works at Pintadillo-1 are nearing completion and the rig currently at Platanillo-22 will move to drill Pintadillo-1. The sand anomaly targeted by Pintadillo-1 is estimated to contain reserves of 11.4 million barrels of oil.
Civil works at Amerisur's CPO-5 block, operated by Oil & Natural Gas Corporation Ltd, are now complete. Its Indico-1 well on the block is expected to spud, in keeping with previous guidance, in the third quarter of 2018. The well operator estimates that gross reserves at Indico-1 total 10.3 million barrels of oil.
Shares in Amerisur were down 1.3% at 15.00 pence on Tuesday.
