LONDON (Alliance News) - Amerisur Resources PLC Monday said that its twelfth new well in the Platanillo field in Colombia has added commercial oil production to the company's operations.
The oil and gas producer said Platanillo-17 was drilled on time and under budget to a total depth of 8,760 feet and found a 86 feet gross, 53 feet net oil column in the U sand formation.
The company said a high controlled test showed 1,527 barrels of oil per day from the well and it has now been choked back and placed on commercial production at roughly 1,100 barrels of oil per day.
Amerisur said its rig is currently being moved to Platform 9S to drill its Platanillo-15 site, which is classed as an infill well whose purpose is to further develop the southern part of the field.
However, the company noted that overall current field production remains constrained in the range 7,000 to 7,500 barrels of oil per day.
Amerisur Resources shares were trading flat at 60.75 pence Monday.
