Altus Strategies Starts Maiden Drilling At Tabakorole Project In Mali

29th Jan 2020 15:18

(Alliance News) - Altus Strategies PLC on Wednesday reported commencement of a drilling programme at the Tabakorole gold project located on the Massagui gold belt in southern Mali.

The Africa-focused project and royalty generator said the 2,000 metre 30 hole aircore drilling programme is being undertaken by Glomin Services Ltd under the joint venture agreement.

The drilling programme has been designed to test surface soil geochemical anomalies and areas where historic drilling generated encouraging results. These include hole 14TKRC10 at the north-western end of Tabakorole's FT prospect which returned 1.85 grammes per tonne of gold over 16 metre from a depth of 1 metre and hole 05TKAC-097 500m north of the FT prospect which returned 1.41 grammes per tonne of gold over 10 metre from 26 metre.

Steven Poulton, chief executive of Altus, said: "The initial 2,000 metre of AC drilling at Tabakorole will test a number of priority targets adjacent to the historic 590,000 ounce resource. These targets were defined by previous operators which, due to the cyclical downturn in the sector, have yet to be systematically tested."

Altus shares in London were untraded at 7.25 pence each on Wednesday afternoon.
