Allocate Software Launches New Nurse Rostering Software

5th Jun 2014 10:00

LONDON (Alliance News) - Allocate Software PLC Thursday said it will launch its SafeCare-All-the-Time product at the NHS Confederation Annual Conference in Liverpool.

In a statement, the software company said the software is aimed at ward leaders and senior nurses to improve the way they deploy the nursing workforce, and it claims it will also help them meet new government public reporting requirements that were brought in after a major NHS scandal at the Mid-Staffordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

"We have received a good volume of pre-release orders and we are seeing significant interest from the wider market," Allocate Chief executive Ian Bowles said in a statement.

Allocate Software shares were up 0.4% at 111.45 pence Thursday morning.

NHS England has set out requirements that come into force this month for NHS organisations with inpatient wards to report publically on planned and actual staffing levels for each ward, every day.

In July, The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence will also publish its first ever Guideline on Safe Staffing that will set out how organisations should factor in patient need to determine how many staff are required on each shift.

The new rules and guidelines follow the publication of the Francis Report that came out of the public inquiry into Mid-Staffordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Robert Francis QC?s report into the scandal in the Mid-Staffordshire Trust said a complete system breakdown meant that up to 1,200 patients died unnecessarily between 2005 and 2009 because self-interest and cost control was put before patients and their safety. It catalogued failures from nursing staff to management and watchdog bodies, right up to the Department of Health.
