Allied Minds To Work With Boston University On Heart Monitoring Device

13th Dec 2016 07:43

LONDON (Alliance News) - US-focused science and technology investor Allied Minds PLC on Tuesday said it has created a new subsidiary, Signature Medical Inc, which will hold the exclusive worldwide option to licence patent rights from Boston University for cardiac signature technology.

Signature Medical intends to develop and refine the technology to be used in a wearable device that will allow healthcare providers and doctors to diagnose and monitor patients suffering from heart failure following their discharge from hospital.

"We are excited to be working with Boston University on this important opportunity. Today's heart failure treatments could be significantly improved through the use of wearable devices to improve diagnostics and monitoring to reduce hospitalisations and readmissions," said Omar Amirana, the managing director, founder and chief executive of Signature Medical and a senior vice president of Allied Minds.
