LONDON (Alliance News) - Alliance Pharma PLC on Wednesday said its Xonvea drug has been approved in Ireland to treat nausea and vomiting of pregnancy.
The Irish marketing approval is Alliance Pharma's first outside of the UK and was granted by Ireland's Health Products Regulatory Authority for cases of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy in cases "where conservative management has failed".
In both Ireland and the UK, nausea and vomiting of pregnancy is the most common medication condition in pregnancy. Alliance Pharma said that around 46,500 women in Ireland experience the condition each year, amounting to between 70% and 80% of pregnant women.
Alliance Pharma expects to launch Xonvea in the fourth quarter of 2019 and will market the drug directly through its sales and marketing team in Ireland.
Shares in Alliance Pharma were down 0.3% at 76.80 pence on Wednesday.
