Alexander Mining Enters Turkish Initiative For AmmLeach Technology

8th Jul 2014 09:19

LONDON (Alliance News) - Alexander Mining PLC Tuesday said it has entered a new initiative to possibly provide its AmmLeach technology to Phoenix Global Mining Ltd for its highly prospective zinc oxide properties in Turkey.

The mining and mineral processing technology company said Phoenix, which is developing mining projects across Europe, has agreed to investigate the potential amenability of mineralised material from its Turkish operations being treating with AmmLeach.

Alexander's AmmLeach process uses ammonia-based chemistry to selectively extract copper, zinc, nickel and cobalt from ore deposits, as well as others.

The company said Phoenix wants to investigate producing zinc cathode or high-value intermediate zinc products at its own mine sites or through a centrally located commercial plant being developed by Alexander.

Phoenix has an earn-in agreement with B&S Yatirim AS, a Turkish industrial group, to develop B&S Yatirim's base metals exploration and mining licences, with a portfolio of sixteen licences over five Turkish properties through the earn-in.

"The opportunity with Phoenix Global Mining is a welcome development as it adds to the growing number of highly prospective and high grade zinc oxide opportunities that we have already identified for the potential use of our AmmLeach process in central Turkey," Alexander Mining Chief Executive Martin Rosser said in a statement.

Alexander Mining shares were trading flat on Tuesday at 3.50 pence.
