Alecto Minerals Plans To Start Drilling Wad Amour In April

20th Mar 2014 11:09

LONDON (Alliance News) - Alecto Minerals PLC Thursday said it has signed a contract to undertake the first drilling programme at its Wad Amour Project in Mauritania.

The mining exploration company focused on West and East Africa said it signed the contract, for 1,500 metres of reverse circulation drilling at the site with Layne Drilling Ltd.

Alecto said the drill programme will start at its Chiron target on site in April to test copper and gold potential at depth and the full programme is expected to use twelve holes drilled to initial depths of 80 metres.

The company said the target of the programme will be to intercept hydrothermal ore at depth which should host fresh copper mineralisation and be visible in the drilling chips.

Rock chip sampling at the Chiron target has previously returned grades of up to 5.79% copper at the surface.

Alecto Minerals shares were up 2.9% to 258.89 pence Thursday.
