Alba Mineral Resources Detects Gravity Anomalies In Limerick Study

16th Dec 2016 16:19

LONDON (Alliance News) - Alba Mineral Resources PLC on Friday said it has detected several gravity anomalies in the microgravity study and portable XRF shallow soil sampling programme from the Limerick base metal project in Ireland.

According to the company, interpretation of the gravity data suggests the presence of gravity anomalies consistent with brecciation of the host limestone, with zinc and lead anomalism in shallow soil samples collected above or adjacent to gravity anomalies.

The study was undertaken by Alba's Irish subsidiary Aurum Mineral Resources on the eastern side of prospecting licence 3824.

"We are extremely pleased with the success of the gravity study and the preliminary soil geochemistry on PL3824. The gravity study is interpreted to have identified possible brecciation, a feature that is associated with Irish-Type mineralisation, whereas the portable XRF data suggests we are in an area of base metal anomalism," Chief Executive Mike Nott said in a statement.

"We eagerly look forward to the soil geochemistry assays, and hope to tie the results in with previous studies conducted on the licence to further our exploration efforts," he added.

Shares in Alba were trading up 8.2% at 0.422 pence on Friday afternoon.
