Alba completes drilling campaign at Thule Black Sands in Greenland

24th Aug 2021 10:49

(Alliance News) - Alba Mineral Resources PLC on Tuesday reported the completion of its phase two drilling campaign at Thule Black Sands project in northern Greenland.

The drill was able to reach mineralised depths of up to 6 metres, with 249 holes completed for 550 metres, almost double the 125 holes originally planned. An aerial photogrammetry drone survey was completed, as well as a bathymetry survey of the offshore area to assist in mine planning and the location of infrastructure, Alba said.

"Every drill hole we completed penetrated the permafrost, and we expect this to have a positive impact on the overall level of resources that we will be able to declare at TBS," commented Chief Operating Officer Mark Austin.

Once the drill samples from the programme have been assayed, the independent competent person will then commence their resource estimation work, Alba noted.

Austin added that while Alba has now comprehensively drilled the higher-grade southern portion of the site, there remains "further upside potential" in the central and northern areas. Drilling will begin on these during next year's drilling season.

Alba shares were flat in London on Tuesday at 0.24 pence each.
