AIM WINNERS & LOSERS: Mindflair up on AI investment; Buccaneer falls

3rd Nov 2025 11:11

(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers on AIM on Monday.

----------

AIM - WINNERS

----------

Mindflair PLC, up 23% at 0.80 pence, 12-month range 1.50p-0.52p. The London-based investor in artificial intelligence technology notes that Sure Valley Ventures' second fund, in which it holds an interest, has completed a new investment in Astut. Astut is a hybrid AI company spun out from the University of Oxford's mathematics department. Mindflair says the firm has already engaged in pilot discussions with defence and security organisations, including the UK Ministry of Defence. The fund co-led a GBP1.6 million seed funding round alongside East X Ventures, with participation from the UK Innovation & Science Seed Fund. "This investment in Astut reflects the continued focus on identifying and supporting cutting-edge AI companies that are addressing some of the most complex challenges in the sector. Astut's hybrid AI technology exemplifies the kind of innovation that can redefine how organisations make mission-critical decisions," says Mindflair Director Nicholas Lee.

----------

Fusion Antibodies PLC, up 7.3% at 14.49p, 12-month range 21.00p-3.90p. The Belfast, Northern Ireland-based contract researcher says its Optimal platform has been similarly successful with smaller peptide targets as it was for protein targets. These results will allow Fusion to propose the use of Optimal for a wider range of targets, it says, which broadens the accessible market and revenue potential. The firm says the next steps are to test the antibodies in cell-based assays at the National Cancer Institute. "We are again delighted with the performance of the Optimal platform providing very high affinity antibodies against peptides, a prevalent but challenging target class," says Chief Executive Officer Adrian Kinkaid. "The latest developments provide us with a more solid foundation with which to address a wider market and positions Optimal as the potential front line discovery platform of choice for human therapeutic antibody discovery."

AIM - LOSERS

----------

Buccaneer Energy PLC, down 23% at 0.02p, 12-month range 0.06p-0.01p. The Texas-focused exploration company, previously known as Nostra Terra Oil & Gas, raises around GBP500,000 through a subscription and placing of 2.96 billion shares at 0.017p each. Some suppliers of the company have elected to receive shares as consideration for services provided, for which a further 250 million shares will be issued. The proceeds of the fundraising will be used towards the funding of the company's share of a bitcoin mining operation in the Fouke area. Separately, Buccaneer Energy announces the spud of the Allar 1 well in the Fouke area of the Pine Mills field. "Since successfully securing the rig for Allar 1 earlier this month, we have quickly moved to spud the well as we look to increase production and materially drive cash flow from our existing acreage in the Pine Mills field," says CEO Paul Welch.

----------

Shuka Minerals PLC, down 11% at 5.34p, 12-month range 8.50p-2.20p. The Africa-focused mine operator and developer says it is yet to receive loan funds from Gathoni Muchai Investments. A week ago, Gathoni Muchai had indicated that funds would be processed by Friday last week. Gathoni Muchai reports that administrative issues prevented the payments from proceeding last week, though it is confident of payments to Shuka this week. The loan to facilitate Shuka's acquisition of Leopard Exploration & Mining in Zambia was held up due to administrative and regulatory matters in Kenya. Early in July, Gathoni Muchai agreed to increase its loan to Shuka by GBP1.5 million to GBP2 million. This extension covered the balance of GBP1.0 million due to vendors of Leopard Exploration. "It is disappointing to be reporting a further delay, though we have been assured by GMI that funding to allow the completion on Kabwe will soon be provided," Shuka CEO Richard Lloyd says.
