(Alliance News) - AIB Group PLC said Wednesday it has applied to the London Stock Exchange to switch the currency in which its shares are traded to sterling from the euro.
The Dublin-based bank expects the change to take effect on Monday next week. It gave no reason on Wednesday for why it requested the change.
On Euronext Dublin, AIB's shares will continued to be traded in euro, while its financial statements also are presented in euro.
Shares in AIB Group were up 1.6% at EUR1.72 on Wednesday morning in London.
