AfriTin Mining Reports Positive Results From Uis Tin Mine Drilling

10th Jun 2019 09:47

LONDON (Alliance News) - AfriTin Mining Ltd on Monday reported positive results from the drilling of five holes at the Uis tin mine in Namibia.

The miner reported "significant" intersections, including 30.3 metres at 0.20% tin and 91 parts per million in tantalum for hole V1V2008, 109.3 metres at 0.17% tin and 77 parts of tantalum in hole V1V2010, and 53.8 metres at 0.16% tin and 73 parts of tantalum for hole V1V20011.

The results indicate a continuity of the pegmatite bodies which were indicated in the previous five holes, AfriTin said, with the intersections suggesting an increased thickness of the pegmatite ore.

AfriTin first started an exploration drilling programme in the fourth quarter of 2018, aiming for a maiden mineral resource for the V1 and V2 pegmatite bodies at Uis.

"I am pleased to provide a further update on the confirmatory drilling programme. Of particular interest is a 109-metre intersection of mineralised pegmatite starting at 51 metres, indicating the presence of a voluminous ore body extension at depth. While these drilling results are subject to a resource modelling and independent validation process, we are encouraged by these results which remain comparable to the historical data of 1985," said Chief Executive Anthony Viljoen.

Shares in AfriTin Mining were up 1.9% at 3.72 pence on Monday.
