(Alliance News) - AfriTin Mining Ltd on Monday said it successfully achieved a nameplate tin concentrate production of 63.9 tonnes of tin concentrate at its flagship asset the Uis Tin Mine in Namibia during November.
This was a 32% improvement from October's results for the mining company, which also has tin assets in South Africa. AfriTin said the production level achieved in November represents "approximately 107% of the Stage I target in terms of tin concentrate tonnes produced and more than double of the Stage I target in terms of tin contained in concentrate."
The company said it implemented optimisation initiatives throughout 2020, resulting in the performance of the operation exceeding nameplate production and reaching the milestone before the end of 2020, which was the previously projected completion timeframe.
Chief Executive Anthony Viljoen said: "This is a defining milestone that has been achieved for the company. This success speaks volumes for the high quality nature of the asset and the calibre of our management team, whom I would like to sincerely congratulate given the macro challenges faced by the global pandemic.
"Furthermore, this accomplishment provides us with the platform to progress, with proven confidence, our development plan for the Uis Tin Mine towards a large-scale mining and processing facility," he added.
AfriTin said there are still no confirmed cases of Covid-19 at the Utis Tin Mine.
Shares in AfriTin were up 1.7% at 2.34 pence in London on Monday.
