LONDON (Alliance News) - AfriAg PLC Monday said it has been contracted by United Exports Proprietary Limited, an Australian supplier of Southern African stone fruits to European retailers, to manage the logistical movement stone fruits from South Africa.
AfriAg said over 500,000kg of peaches, nectarines, apricots and plums will be delivered to British retailers including Tesco, Waitrose and Marks & Spencer over the next eight weeks from South Africa.
"Even though the peak season for stone fruit by air will be the next eight weeks in the lead up to the Christmas holidays, we expect that there will be a continuity of air freight right through until the end of January supplying speciality lines which require the best-in-season by air," Chairman David Lenigas said in a statement.
