Afriag Shares Soar As It Makes First Frozen Fish Export To China

27th Aug 2014 08:58

LONDON (Alliance News) - AfriAg PLC Wednesday said its new agri-marketing division, AfriAg Marketing Pty Ltd, has sold its first refrigerated 40-foot sea container, containing a gross weight of approximately 20 metric tons of South African-sourced frozen fish products, to clients in China.

This sale consists of "unique value added hake retail lines" and general hake fillets for distribution to the wholesaler trade in China.

"We are pleased with the speed that our new marketing division is growing and see tremendous opportunities ahead for AfriAg Marketing as we continue to open up new export markets in the Far East that are looking for quality Southern African food products in order to meet that region's growing consumer demand," Chairman David Lenigas said in a statement.

Afriag shares were Wednesday quoted up 14% at 0.637 pence, having set an intraday high of 0.79p.
