AFC Energy Says Fuel Stack Trials In Germany Successful

16th Jan 2015 08:32

LONDON (Alliance News) - Industrial fuel-cell power company AFC Energy PLC on Friday said the first trial of its 51-cell stack cartridge met its targets.

AFC said the first trial of the stack, carried out at an industrial gas plant facility in Germany, achieved an operational baseline performance in line with its expectations.

The time taken to reach fuel-cell operating temperature from ambient was four hours, in line with AFC target to achieve this in under 12 hours.

The next trials on a 101-cell stack have been scheduled for February and March, the company said.

AFC said the results back its confidence in meeting its target for delivery of a 240 kilowatt KORE fuel system in the second half of 2015.

"Achievement of the 51-fuel-cell stack, which is now only half of the commercial scale 101-fuel-cell cartridge designed for the KORE, is a massive step forward in the commercialisation of AFC's leading fuel cell technology," said AFC Chief Executive Officer Adam Bond.

AFC shares were up 5.6% to 9.50 pence on Friday morning.
