AFC Energy Power Unit Design May Be Altered After Southern Oil Review

1st Nov 2018 13:43

LONDON (Alliance News) - Industrial fuel cell power firm AFC Energy PLC on Thursday said its hydrogen power-generation unit design could be altered as result of a review by Southern Oil Refining Pty Ltd.

AFC Energy has developed an alkaline fuel cell system to convert hydrogen into electricity and the Southern Oil order is its first commercial order in Australia.

AFC Energy said the review "may result in an adjustment to the volume of hydrogen available for the fuel cell system" at Southern Oil's Glastone's waste oil refinery in Australia. It was noted that both companies "remain ever focused" on the deployment of the fuel cell system.

"We continue to collaborate closely with Southern Oil's technical team to ensure AFC Energy's fuel cell is fully operational within the timeframe of their advanced bio-refinery, expected to be mid 2019," said AFC Energy Chief Executive Adam Bond.

Shares in AFC Energy were up 0.8% at 6.00 pence on Thursday.
